Farming Simulator 22: Seasonal Cycles
We’re all familiar with the four seasons in real life and how the cycle works. But, there’s a lot more to it than just knowing the difference between hot and cold when you’re a farmer. If you want to learn what each of the four seasons in Farming Simulator 22 has to offer, check out the guide below!
The Different Seasons in FS22
There are a total of four seasons in the game, and these are all like the ones in real life. The game starts in August, meaning you’ll be going through Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Spring in that exact order. Every season has unique visuals and traits that also affect gameplay.
There are also different objectives during different seasons. For example, Summer is the best time for grassland farming. You can plant many crops and prepare for winter. In Fall (or Autumn), you’ll be harvesting all the crops you planted. Players can also use this time to finish up on winter preparations.
Then comes Winter, which is arguably the toughest period. Instead of the usual farming, you’ll be focusing on greenhouses and keeping your livestock in check. You can also earn money by starting production chains and keeping your roads clear of any snow.
Lastly, Spring is the time when things start calming down and the cycle starts coming to an end. You deal with clearing out all the harm done by Winter and start planting new crops while looking forward to a new cycle.
The Different Seasonal Settings
The game also has settings that change how seasons work. These come in very handy and are a great way to tune the Farming Simulator 22 experience to your liking. Following are the most important settings to keep in mind:
Fixed Visual Month: Those that like only one season can enable this setting. It makes sure that the game only provides the look and gameplay mechanics of one season all year round, like the warmth and calm of summer.
Snow: By enabling snow, you can make things more realistic or challenging during the summer.
Seasonal Growth: This is another setting that adds to the realism. When enabled, it forces players to stick to the crop calendar and truly makes the four seasons a part of the Farming Simulator 22 experience.
Days Per Month: This setting is pretty self-explanatory. You can use it to change how long a month lasts in the game, ranging from 1 day to 28 of them. This also affects the speed of the gameplay.
Learning More About the Crop Calendar
For those that want a realistic experience and have seasonal growth enabled, it isn’t possible to plant any crop at any time. Just like in real life, you can only plant and harvest specific crops at specific times.
When the seasonal growth setting is enabled, you get access to a crop calendar. This lets you see what the right and wrong time to plant each type of crop is. This helps you plan and keep your farm’s functioning in check.
